1 Kings 17:15 & 16: “So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her son continued to eat from her supply of flour and oil for many days. For no matter how much they used, there was always enough left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.”
Rex Humbard tells the story about his mother and father who were evangelists and were in a town holding meetings. His mother was in prayer in her bedroom when the lady and her son, who were living with them and preparing their meals for approximately eight of them, came to the door and told her, “We haven’t anything in the house to eat.” Mrs. Humbard, a woman of great faith, asked her what she would like to eat. She named a number of things that she would like – chicken, carrots, potatoes, etc. Mrs. Humbard told her to go back to the kitchen and put pots and pans on the store with water in them. “I am going to pray.”
On the other side of town, an unsaved man couldn’t sleep. His wife asked him what was wrong, and he told her he felt that in the morning he was to go to the preacher and his wife who are living and holding meetings in a theatre in town and take them some food.
The next morning, a man with his horses and wagon, stopped in front of the theater. On his wagon he had chicken, carrots, potatoes, etc., just what Mrs. Humbard had prayed for. It was said they had enough food for a month.
