Acts 3: 7-8: Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and anklebones were healed and strengthened. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.
This morning I accidentally tuned into Rev. James & Betty Robison’s program, “Life Today”. It is shown daily on Satellite or Cable TV. I say it was accidental but I don’t really believe it was, for after watching it, the Lord impressed on me to share the following story:
James & Betty Robison were interviewing Randy Travis and his wife. Randy Travis was a very popular Country and Western singer who, as well, sang many Gospel hymns.
Within the past two or three years he had suffered a very serious stroke. As a result of a lot of prayers, he is slowly making a comeback. On the program, they had him shown singing one of his songs that he sang in 2003 entitled, “Three Crosses”. Later, on the show, Rev. Robison had him sing a verse of the hymn, “Amazing Grace”, without accompaniment. It was very moving. Please remember him in your prayers.
“Amazing Grace” was the only hymn ever written by Sir John Newton of England, an old sea captain who went to sea as a very young boy and lived a very rough life at sea. He gave his life to Christ and wrote this hymn, which, like so many other hymns, was written from life experiences.
AMAZING GRACE
Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath bro’t me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
